Thesis work description:
This project will advance the use of roller compaction simulation to accelerate drug product development. Miniaturization significantly reduce drug substance usage, making drug product development available earlier and at a lower cost. You will investigate roller compaction process design and key process parameters optimization using miniaturized simulations . Material characterization methods-including particle size distribution and flow properties-will be used to evaluate comparisons between processes. The project can also employ digital tools for thorough data analysis and process modelling to support the development of innovative manufacturing strategies.

Key Objectives:
  • Utilize miniaturized roller compaction simulations to investigate and optimize full scale process.
  • Evaluate and compare material characterization methods, such as particle size distribution and flow properties, to inform process development.
  • Map integration of roller compaction simulation into the formulation development workflow.
  • Employ digital tools and analytics to assess and interpret process data effectively.
  • Combine simulated trials with in-silico modeling to enhance process understanding.
  • Support the development and implementation of innovative manufacturing strategies by leveraging simulation and modeling insights.

Placement:

This is an on-site position at AstraZeneca Gothenburg. AstraZeneca does not support with accommodations for this role.

Essential Requirements:
  • Enrolled in a Master's program within Pharmacy, Process Engineering, Chemistry or other relevant fields
  • Excellent English communication skills, including speaking, presenting and scientific writing.
  • Laboratory skills
  • Skilled in data interpretation, as well as organizing and processing raw data.
  • Ability to independently organise, plan and execute work tasks.
