This role is a part of TRATON Group R&D, located in Södertälje, Sweden.

Do you want to work with a technology that has a major impact on engine performance, durability and customer experience? We are now looking for a Development Engineer to join our team within Turbo and Gas Exchange Performance 1. In this role, you will combine responsibilities within turbo design, performance development, testing and verification. You will be involved throughout the full development chain, from early concepts and technical investigations to test planning, analysis, verification and product introduction. Working closely with colleagues, suppliers and cross-functional partners, you will contribute to developing robust, high-performing and sustainable solutions for Tratons's powertrain products. You will join the Turbo Team, a skilled and collaborative group of around eighteen colleagues including development leaders, designers and test engineers. Together, we

Who You Are

You are a curious and analytical engineer with a strong technical interest and a hands-on mindset. You enjoy solving complex problems, both by diving into details and by understanding the bigger system perspective. You work in a structured and methodical way, take initiative and collaborate easily with others. Since the role includes many interfaces, we also believe you are communicative, responsive and motivated by working together to reach common goals.

• MSc or BSc in Engineering, or equivalent experience, preferably within mechanical engineering or a related technical field

• Knowledge of internal combustion engine technology and performance

• Experience in turbo machinery, engine testing, verification or related development work is highly meritorious

• Strong problem-solving skills and an interest in both theory and practical engineering work

• Fluent in English, both spoken and written; Swedish is an advantage

Job Responsibilities

• Drive the development of turbocharger solutions for Traton R&D

• Plan, prepare, perform and follow up testing and verification activities to secure turbocharger performance, durability and functionality

• Analyze test results, identify deviations, define next steps and coordinate technical investigations together with colleagues and suppliers

• Collaborate with internal functions such as design, simulation, purchasing, production and workshop teams, as well as external turbo suppliers

• Contribute to continuous improvement of methods, tools, processes and ways of working within turbo and gas exchange performance development

• Present progress, technical challenges and recommendations to stakeholders, while supporting the team with your knowledge and technical insights

• Balance detailed engineering work with system-level understanding to optimize product properties, customer value and long-term quality
