This year, we will have 3 projects within our software department. Additionally, we will also have an opportunity for a student to join our hardware development team, building embedded software solutions for new Axis products.

Visualization of scene insights in 2D and 3D

Axis Communications offers a wide range of cameras with analytics capabilities that provide actionable insights through scene analysis. This project focuses on developing a web application that visualizes real-time scene insights from multiple cameras in 2D and 3D.

Vision-Language Analytics for Axis Object Snapshots

Axis security cameras can provide object snapshots (cropped images) of detected entities such as humans and vehicles. These snapshots can be used as inputs to machine learning systems to extract information that can be stored for search or used to trigger events or alarms.

The project objective is to build one or more open-source example applications that demonstrate how Vision-Language Models (VLMs) and/or CLIP-style embedding models can be used to analyze object metadata and object snapshots from Axis cameras. The examples should use popular machine learning tools and frameworks and serve as a starting point for developers integrating Axis cameras. The result will be externally published here.

• VLMs (e.g., Qwen-VL) and/or CLIP-style models (e.g., OpenCLIP)

Video view reference application

Axis have a product library that is used when a 3rd party want to show the video feed from an Axis camera inside their own applications. The intention is to deprecate the currently used library and replace it with a more modern solution that has been developed. To make this transition easier for the customers, we need to develop an example application that can be referenced by 3rd parties who are migrating their solution.

The goal of the summer internship is to develop an example application in React showing the basics of the newer library, together with corresponding documentation.

Embedded software engineer in our hardware development team

You will join the team of developers and work together in ongoing projects, building embedded software solutions for new Axis products. We work mainly with embedded Linux and most our code is in C/ C++. You get the chance to work side by side with experienced engineers and learn how it is to build software for hardware products.
