Your role and responsibilities

As we transition into a new era with SoftBank and build the next generation of industrial robots and Physical AI, you will be part of a team that is redefining how humans and robots work together. This is your opportunity to help shape the future of safe, intelligent robotics.
In this role, you will join our dedicated Functional Safety and embedded software team consisting of five developers and one architect. As our architect's workload grows - especially around safety reviews and design evaluations - we are now strengthening the team with an experienced Senior Functional Safety Software Developer.
Your main tasks will include:
- Developing and enhancing our functional safety software, focusing on performance level D solutions with high safety integrity requirements.
- Conducting technical pre-studies, proposing robust software and architectural solutions, and contributing to a holistic system view.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant standards such as ISO 10218, ISO 13849, ISO 26262, and IEC 61508.
- Performing safety analyses using methods like FMEA and fault tree analyses.
- Collaborating with architects, hardware teams, and other R&D teams to ensure safe and reliable robot behavior.
- Reviewing code, documentation, and functional safety concepts to support certification and long-term maintainability.
- Working hands on with embedded software development in C, C++, and C# using Visual Studio, Azure DevOps and GitHub.
Your Background
To succeed in this role, you have:
- 8-15 years of experience in functional safety software development within robotics, machinery, automotive, or similar safety critical industries.
- Solid understanding of Machine Directive, ISO 13849, and/or other functional safety frameworks such as ISO 26262 or IEC 61508.
- Proven experience in embedded development using C/C++/C#.
- Experience with safety analysis tools and techniques (FMEA, FTA).
- Practical engineering mindset - master's or bachelor's degree preferred; what matters most is strong, hands on industry experience.
- Fluent Swedish, both spoken and written.
- Willingness to be onsite in Västerås 3-4 days/week during the first years, to build collaboration and deep product understanding.
Experience from robotics, industrial automation, or safety critical real time systems is highly valued.
