Amazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly, and we are looking for Data Center Engineering Operations Technician to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team.

This committed group works to maintain the critical physical infrastructure that supports Amazon Web Services. Specifically, this intern will work to ensure that the data center's mechanical, electrical and plumbing operates at 100% availability while maintaining first-class customer service to the teams and groups within the data centers.

The Data Center Engineering Operations Technician Intern will assist with operating and maintaining all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center. The Intern serves as a technical resource to support Amazon within its owned and operated data centers. Data center equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. Our Interns are also tasked with driving innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities. They are Amazon's frontline responders for hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operations. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, stand-by diesel generators, switchgear, UPS's, PDU's, AHU's, chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, VFD's, and building automation systems.

This role starts in January and February 2026 (depending on school terms), it is a paid full-time internship lasting 20 weeks.

Responsibilities:

• \tMaintain mechanical and electrical equipment

• \tAssist root cause analysis of equipment failures

• \tAssist in troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal SLA

• \tEnsure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work

• \tTake daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment

• \tAble to work a 12 hour shift (rotating 3 to 4 day work weeks and might include night shifts)

• \tUtilize internal CMMS to manage building workflows and perform rack installations

Other Requirements

• \tWalk job sites in uneven terrain

• \tWork at heights and from ladders

• \tRegularly lift and/or move up to 18kg unassisted and participate in group lifts for 50 pounds or more

• \tCoordinate body movements when using tools or equipment

• \tReach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance

• \tBend or twist the body into unusual positions while working

• \tPerform physical tasks all day without becoming overly tired

• \tPerform extended site rounds that could include long distances of walking and long periods of time being away from a desk

• \tUse hands to manipulate small wires and objects

• \tPush or pull heavy objects into position

• \tWork in a noisy environment

• \tWorks shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations (covering both night and day shifts)

• \tWork at depths, such as under raised floors

• \tWork support could include travel to more than one site location (travel less than 25% of time)

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• In pursuit of or obtained Bachelor's Degree within a relevant field such as mechanical/electrical engineering OR • In pursuit of or obtained certification from a Technical/Trade school program (HVAC, electrician, facilities maintenance, or similar) • English language Proficiency, both written and verbal • Ability to work well with others in a team environment, displaying strong time management skills
