We are seeking an experienced Cloud Platform Engineering Tech Lead to join our team and lead the development and operations of our cloud platform infrastructure.

About the role:
This role replaces the current Head of Platform Engineering position and is part of Icomera's strategic plan to establish a dedicated platform team that enables the organization to deliver high-quality solutions from development to production, primarily for cloud-based applications. The main focus is on the operational aspects of portals and new applications.
As Tech Lead - Cloud Platform Engineering, you will design and maintain AWS-based cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes clusters, implement Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and GitOps principles, and provide templates and standards for development teams to ensure consistency and security. You will also monitor and optimize platform performance, reliability, and cost efficiency while ensuring compliance with security and industry standards.
Key responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain AWS-based cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes clusters.
- Implement Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and GitOps principles.
- Provide templates and standards for development teams to ensure consistency and security.
- Monitor and optimize platform performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to improve delivery pipelines and developer experience.
- Ensure observability through tools like Grafana and Prometheus, and maintain incident response readiness.
- Maintain high availability and performance across all production and non-production systems.
- Work with leadership to ensure compliance with industry or customer security expectations (ISO27001).
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or a Higher vocational Education within Cloud Engineering with a focus on AWS
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in cloud engineering and platform operations.
- Strong expertise in AWS cloud, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitOps, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus).
- Deep understanding of web infrastructure: DNS, VPC, load balancing, and proxying.
- Experience with incident management and cost optimization in cloud environments.
- Strong Linux experience and scripting skills.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in distributed teams.
- Ability to act as a tech lead for a small team, providing guidance and technical leadership.
- Knowledge in Python and Bash scripting for automation is considered meritorious
- Knowledge in ansible for configuration management is considered meritorious
- Experience with VMware vSphere for virtualization and infrastructure management is considered meritorious
