The Business & Relationship Management (BRM) Team is currently seeking an Associate Director based out of our Stockholm office.

Department overview:

The role is based in Stockholm within the Business Relationship Management ("BRM") group which leads business development and marketing efforts for Fitch Rating's International Public Finance ('IPF') market segment franchise. IPF covers Local and Regional Governments and Government Related Entities i.e. entities having public missions across different sectors such as financial services, public transportation, social housing, health care, education.

This team is responsible for maintaining and developing the IPF ratings portfolio, managing Fitch Rating's relationships with Issuers as well as liaising with Investment Banks and Debt Advisors.

This role has a primary focus on relationships based in the Nordics and Italy.

Role Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be based in Stockholm and will support the relationship development and marketing efforts for municipal funding agencies, public transportation, social housing, and local and regional government sectors in the Nordic Region and Italy. The person will work closely with the EMEA Head of BRM IPF and with IPF analysts across Europe (analysts covering the Nordic Region and Italy-based analysts). As the candidate progresses in the role, they will also build and manage their own client relationships. This role reports to the EMEA Head of BRM IPF based in Paris.

Candidate profile:

This position will suit someone who is keen to take on challenges and develop a career in a business development role with front-line relationship management. The role has a high component of client interaction with issuers and bankers/debt market professionals. The role requires an organized, enthusiastic and proactive individual with a high level of initiative and the ability to manage different and multiple tasks/transactions simultaneously. Some travel will be required for conferences and occasional meetings with prospective clients. A results-driven approach will be necessary to succeed and grow in the role.

Key responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Develop a portfolio of Issuer and Advisors contacts - bankers and investors
  • Develop connections within the regional capital markets.
  • Develop and maintain external relationships by organizing regular meetings to disseminate Fitch's marketing messages, including new ratings in a region or sector and summaries of recent transactions.
  • Develop impactful presentations to support and achieve business objectives.

2. Research and develop business development strategies
  • Research and identify new business opportunities with issuers, bankers, and debt advisors.
  • Work with Fitch analytical teams to identify sector opportunities.
  • Develop and implement marketing plans to secure new rating mandates.

3. Fee negotiations including through potential tender process
  • Negotiate fees with new issuers to maximize revenue and respond to local tenders as required, including preparing and coordinating all necessary documentation (including fee letters).
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with Fitch's analytical, legal, and compliance teams as needed.
  • Manage workflows to achieve goals.

4. Reporting and Data Base
  • Attend internal and external meetings and draft minutes/call notes for entry into Fitch's CRM system (Salesforce).
  • Use the CRM system to record marketing activity, manage targets, track fee negotiations and mandates, conduct targeted mailings, and measure performance.
  • Keep the CRM system up to date and generate reports to support internal communication and external distribution (marketing efforts).
  • Complete required training on internal systems and tools.

5. Research and preparation of business development materials
  • Prepare pitch books, case studies, and tombstones.
  • Develop persuasive business development materials to support marketing efforts.

6. Support internal BRM parties
  • Activate and leverage data, reports, and tools.
  • Standardize communications and activity reporting.
  • Provide decision support and business analysis.

Qualifications and experience:
  • Good command of spoken and written English, Swedish (or Norwegian) and Italian.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills - both verbal and written.
  • Bachelor's degree (finance or business-related subject preferred).
  • Financial industry experience, ideally gained through exposure to debt capital markets, banking, finance, or credit analysis in the public sector.
  • Strong ability to prepare marketing/business development materials in PowerPoint, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrable ability to research, analyze, and interpret datasets.
  • Ability to work independently within a strategic framework, with supervision and guidance from senior team members, and demonstrate the flexibility to meet tight deadlines.
  • Team-oriented, with the ability to confidently build internal and external relationships in an international business environment.
  • Enthusiastic, autonomous and willing to learn.
  • Knowledge of Capital Markets data systems such as Bloomberg, ThomsonReuters, Dealogic would be a plus
