Are you a gastroenterologist looking to combine professional development with international experience in an English-speaking healthcare system?

On behalf of hospitals across Ireland, we are recruiting consultants with dual training in gastroenterology and internal medicine for assignments lasting 12 or 24 months, with the possibility of extension.

This is an opportunity to work in a modern healthcare system while broadening your clinical expertise and gaining valuable international experience.

About the position

You will be based at hospitals in Limerick or Kerry, working in a collaborative clinical environment with a strong focus on patient care and professional development.

As a gastroenterology consultant, you will contribute to both specialist gastroenterology services and general internal medicine. The role typically includes outpatient clinics, inpatient care, endoscopy and participation in the acute medical take.

Typical responsibilities

Assessment, diagnosis and management of patients with gastrointestinal and hepatological conditions

Performing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures

Management of inpatient cases within gastroenterology and internal medicine

Participation in the acute medical on-call rota

Outpatient consultations and follow-up of patients

Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams

Supervision and mentoring of resident doctors

Contribution to quality improvement and clinical development

We are looking for candidates who

Are specialists in gastroenterology with mandatory dual training in internal medicine

Hold medical authorisation and specialist recognition from an EU/EEA country

Have solid experience in both gastroenterology and general internal medicine

Are confident in performing endoscopic procedures independently

Have good English language skills, both spoken and written

Communicate clearly and confidently with patients and colleagues

Thrive in a professional and international environment

Salary

Base salary depending on experience, typically around €233,000-€280,000 gross per year.
