Om jobbet

Are you passionate about material science, design for Additive manufacturing, and product development? This master's thesis explores how Additive Manufacturing (AM) can be utilized for manufacturing of sub-THz Waveguide antenna suitable for Automotive, Telecom and other verticals.

Project idea

The details of the thesis are typically defined together with the candidate, but the high-level idea is described below and has been discussed with Professor Eduard Hryha.

Gapwaves antennas are either manufactured through injection molding or assembly of multiple metal sheets. The product designs fundamentals rely on miniaturized details in sub-mm range. The scope of the thesis is to evaluate the most suitable AM technologies for rapid prototyping and part manufacturing across the two different antenna types. Both polymer and metal AM should be considered.
  • Polymer and metal: Evaluate the suitable AM technology for polymer and metal waveguide antennas.
  • Design validation : Is AM technology feasible with regards to the fine details?
  • RF performance: Demonstrator and potentially RF functionality testing.

What you will join

At Gapwaves, we're exploring what our technology can do. How it can make a machine see the world and how it can connect people. We're curious about what this will mean for the technology of tomorrow and how we can build a creative future where our imagination sets the limits, not the technology. We develop high-performance millimeter-wave antennas and antenna systems using gap waveguide technology. Gapwaves' focus markets are within the automotive industry and wireless communication.

Gapwaves strives to be an attractive employer offering stimulating roles in the forefront of new cutting-edge technology. We offer paid thesis projects and believe that a good thesis project startsfrom a real and interesting research question but also offers hands-on experience. Youcandotheprojectaloneorinagroup, andwewillhave experienced colleagueshelpingyoualongtheway.Oncompletion, you will receive a payment as a recognition for your work.
