ACTIA Nordic and ACTIA EMS are on a journey to bring our vision to life: we want to make the world green, safe and connected, for a viable and sustainable future. A key aspect of making the world greener is reducing the environmental impact of our products, for instance, by incorporating recycled materials. The challenge is achieving this without increasing costs or compromising mechanical stability, processing consistency, chemical resistance, or aesthetics.

This is where you come in.

In this thesis, we would like you to:

• Research and analyze the market for eco-friendly materials suitable for use in electronic products mainly for the automotive business. The investigation mainly concerns plastics, but also die-casting alloys in aluminum and zinc are of interest.
• Investigate industry trends, gather insights from material suppliers, part manufacturers, and end users
• Evaluate the availability of materials, particularly flame-retardant plastics (UL94 V-0 or better)
• Compare prices and lead-times with the materials we use today.

Our expected outcome would be:

• A report, summarizing findings, including a list of suitable eco-friendly materials and their properties.
• A comparison matrix detailing cost, availability, and performance trade-offs.
• Recommendations for materials that could be tested or implemented in future ACTIA products.

For this thesis, we are looking for someone who has the following background:

• Currently pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, materials science or similar.
• You are an avid problem solver. You are analytic, and eager to learn new things.
• You are a team player.
