About the Assignment

We are looking for a Strategic Buyer to support strategic sourcing and purchasing within a defined commodity area in the automotive industry. You will take an active role in driving cost reduction initiatives, shaping segment strategies, and building strong supplier relationships in a dynamic market environment.

The role suits someone who works independently, enjoys complex challenges, and can contribute to improvement and transformation initiatives such as digitalization and sustainability.

Job DescriptionInitiate and drive strategic sourcing initiatives and cost reduction activities within the commodity area.

Develop and implement segment strategies in your area of responsibility.

Establish supplier relationship management processes and set continuous improvement goals and programs.

Negotiate contracts and coordinate supplier integration plans with internal stakeholders.

Monitor market dynamics affecting availability and pricing of materials and services.

Partner with internal stakeholders to identify sourcing needs, develop buyer/market profiles, identify marketplace trends, and define acceptable service levels.

Manage projects and processes with limited supervision.

Coach and review the work of more junior colleagues when relevant.

RequirementsMinimum 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing and/or strategic purchasing.

Proven ability to drive sourcing initiatives, cost reduction, and supplier negotiations.

Experience developing and implementing category/segment strategies.

Experience with supplier relationship management and continuous improvement work.

Ability to work independently in complex stakeholder and market contexts.

Nice to haveExperience driving transformation initiatives related to digitalization and sustainability.

Experience from Volvo.
