Want to join a team with a mission to improve and save lives?

We continually look for motivated and skilled individuals who are interested in supporting our customers - healthcare professionals who use our products to help patients and their communities.

We currently have the following opportunity available - please contact us for more details!

What you'll do at Elekta

At Elekta, you will make a difference. We are seeking a Software Engineer for our team developing the Control System for the Leksell Gamma Knife within the Neuro Solutions Business Line.

The Control System for Leksell Gamma Knife manages accurate and safe delivery of radiation treatment to the patient. It spans from the operator's user interface to the subsystems that drive the real-time embedded and mechatronic components. It controls operator workflows, treatment targeting, imaging, safety functions and communication. You'll work hands-on with both new development and maintenance of a safety-critical system in a regulated medtech environment.

You will be part of a collaborative team of Software Engineers, working in our beautiful new office at "Forskaren" in Stockholm city.

What you'll work on

You'll join a cross-functional engineering team and work closely with experienced developers who will help you develop your skills. We value collaboration, open communication and a supportive environment where everyone's ideas are heard. Your work will focus on building and improving software that directly impacts patient treatment.

You will grow into a role where you will:
  • Develop C++ features that support both user workflows and the interaction with underlying hardware.
  • Participate in the configuration of the Windows IoT and real-time embedded subsystems to enable system connectivity and fulfil cybersecurity requirements.
  • Contribute to the full development process: requirements, design, implementation, testing and documentation.
  • Collaborate with developers, testers, and the product owner as part of an agile team as well as specialists and stakeholders outside the team.
  • Participate in design reviews and code reviews to strengthen quality and consistency of code and documentation.
  • Explore new approaches and tools that can simplify or improve our work.
  • Learn how complex medtech systems are designed and validated.

Who you bring

This is a role where you can start junior, newly graduated or up to four years of experience. We don't expect you to know everything on day one; you will be able to grow into the role by working closely with experienced engineers supporting you through pair programming, code reviews and knowledge-sharing.

We think you'll thrive if you:
  • Have an interest in C++ development and want to deepen your expertise.
  • Are curious about both application-level workflows and embedded system development.
  • Enjoy exploring practical engineering challenges.
  • Are social, communicate well and appreciate teamwork.
  • Want to work in a regulated medtech environment to do meaningful work that improves patient treatment.

We also expect that you have:
  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science, Engineering Physics, Mechatronics or similar.
  • Professional proficiency in English
  • Valid work permit for Sweden.

Prior experience with safety-critical coding, Qt, Windows IoT, ThreadX, Python, or device communication protocols is an advantage, but not required.
