Job Overview:Our client is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a dynamic product development team focused on accessories such as carrying systems, personal protective equipment (helmets, hearing protection), and forestry-related tools.
You will be part of a highly skilled engineering group working on a diverse portfolio ranging from conventional mechanical designs to advanced mechatronic solutions. This role offers the opportunity to contribute across the full product lifecycle-from concept development through to industrialization-within an innovative and technology-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development of mechanical design concepts and transform them into functional prototypes
Conduct design evaluations by analyzing prototype and test data in collaboration with testing teams
Take technical ownership for components and ensure design validation and approvals within assigned projects
Create and maintain structured BOMs (Bill of Materials) within PLM systems
Develop detailed 3D models using CATIA V5 and prepare high-quality engineering drawings
Ensure all technical documentation meets required standards through internal and external review processes
Independently plan, execute, and manage assigned development and maintenance activities
Collaborate cross-functionally with laboratory, simulation, manufacturing, quality teams, and external suppliers
Maintain effective communication with stakeholders across functions and external partners
Support product realization from initial concept through to production-ready solutions
Participate in occasional travel, primarily within Sweden, with limited international travel if required
Total Years of Experience:
Senior-level experience with a strong background in mechanical design and product development
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Product Development, or a related field
Required Skills:
Proven experience in designing injection-molded plastic components
Strong proficiency in CATIA V5
Hands-on experience with PLM/PDM systems
Solid understanding of polymeric materials and material behavior
Knowledge of measurement techniques and geometric assurance
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities related to design validation (e.g., strength, manufacturability)
Ability to work independently with structured planning and execution
Excellent communication and coordination skills
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with injection molding tools and manufacturing processes
Experience working with Teamcenter PLM system
Advanced skills in CATIA V5, particularly surface modeling
Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
Experience in cost estimation at component and product level
Ability to estimate development and production timelines
Exposure to technical project management
Experience in validation and testing processes
Language Requirements:
Swedish - Proficient (spoken and written)
English - Proficient (spoken and written)
