In Malmö, we are actively seeking a Senior Java Engineer to strengthen our engineering team focused on building scalable, data-intensive backend systems. In this role, you will work on high-load solutions that process large volumes of data, develop advanced algorithms, and improve the scalability, efficiency, and freshness of data across the platform.

This is you

• 5+ years of commercial experience with Java development.
• Strong programming and software design skills.
• Deep knowledge of the JVM ecosystem, preferably with hands-on experience in Scala.
• Experience with Spark, Scala, or Python.
• Practical experience with big data ETL and data streaming.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to wear multiple hats and take a proactive, "do what it takes" approach.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Nice-to-have skills:

• Experience with event streaming platforms, such as Kafka.
• Ability to design and implement APIs and REST services.
• Experience with NoSQL databases or applying Machine Learning / AI to large-scale data sets.

This is your role

• Develop algorithms for matching, conflation, and anomaly detection.
• Improve the simplicity, scalability, and efficiency of systems handling increasing volumes of data.
• Optimize turnaround time to ensure data remains as fresh as possible.
• Identify and propose improvements, including automation of existing processes.
• Formulate requirements for new functionality and contribute to solution design.
• Solve complex technical challenges with creativity, speed, and a strong engineering mindset.
