With new knowledge and new perspectives, the University contributes to a better future.The Institute of Medicine, Department of Molecular and Clinical Medicine, conducts translational research on metabolism, obesity and cardiovascular disease, with the aim to improve health and medical care in our society. The overall objective is to create an excellent translational research environment of very high international standard.
The research constellation studies the molecular associations of bowel habits, intestinal symptoms and physical and mental well-being in persons with functional gastrointestinal disorders. The current project is focused on crosstalk between the gut microbiota and neuroimmune signalling in the intestinal mucosa.
You will work in a multidisciplinary, translational research environment, located within a leading international centre for research into functional bowel diseases and the gut microbiome. The research will be performed in close collaboration with colleagues with expertise in clinical research and molecular biology.
Job assignments
You will be working with bioinformatic analysis of data from clinical cohorts of different sizes, including metagenomics, metabolomics and advanced transcriptomic analysis of tissue from colonic biopsies (bulk, single-cell and spatial RNA-seq).
Qualifications
Requirements
- PhD degree
- Extensive experience in bioinformatics analyses, corresponding to a minimum of four years of professional work
Meriting experience
- Research in gastrointestinal physiology and pathophysiology
- Analysis of spatial RNA-seq data
- Analysis of single-cell RNA-seq data
- Analysis of metagenomics data
- Programming in Python and R
- Programming in a command-line environment and shell scripting
- Experience working in multidisciplinary research environments
- Experience working in international research environments with English as the working language
Personal qualities
We are looking for a structured and quality-oriented individual who is also flexible and proactive, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent collaboration and communication skills in English, both written and spoken, are essential for the role. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
