Department of Aquatic Resources (SLU Aqua)

We are looking for a researcher to the department of Aquatic resources, SLU Aqua, Institute of coastal research. You will contribute to our work to develop advice for the sustainable use of coastal and marine ecosystems, more specifically to developing integrated ecosystem analyses as a basis for ecosystem-based management.

About the position

Your will collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders and contribute to scientific publications. Your tasks include supporting ongoing projects on integrated ecosystem analysis and ecosystem-based management, including developing restoration pathways for coastal ecosystems. You will perform statistical analyses of time series and spatial data on ecosystems and human activities and participate in more holistic analyses of socio-ecosystems. You will also contribute to general tasks that support the ecosystem analysis team and the department.

The tasks can change over time according to project requirements.

Your profile

You have strong knowledge in marine ecology and in ecosystem-based management. As a person, you are responsible and good at communicating. You enjoy working in a group and demonstrate capacity for learning new things, working systematically and showing flexibility where required. Skills and subject-related expertise as listed below are emphasised. The applicant is expected to demonstrate examples of these qualifications in the application.

Required qualifications:

• Knowledge of marine biology and marine ecological processes of relevance for North Sea and Baltic Sea ecosystems

• Demonstrated quantitative analytical skills

• Capacity to work with complex data

• Communication skills in English

Other qualifications that will be considered an advantage:

• Experience in analyzing marine environmental monitoring data

• Analysis of qualitative data

• Communication skills in Swedish

• A strong scientific record

Eligibility requirement: PhD in Ecology or other relevant subject
