Chief Enterprise Architect

Do you want to work in a global company where you can contribute to a more sustainable food production? DeLaval is a leading developer, manufacturer, and supplier of solutions for dairy farmers around the world. As a company built on innovation, we constantly work to find ways of helping our customers do more with less.

Role and responsibilities

DeLaval is seeking a senior Chief Enterprise Architect to own, define, and govern the enterprise architecture of the DeLaval Group. The role has end-to-end accountability for ensuring that DeLaval's business strategy is consistently translated into a coherent, secure, and scalable technology landscape across all business domains and geographies.

The Chief Enterprise Architect acts as the company's architectural authority, balancing long-term strategic direction with near-term execution, and ensuring that digital investments deliver measurable business value while reducing complexity and technical risk.

This role provides enterprise-wide leadership through mandate, governance, and influence. It does not initially include direct line management but carries clear functional leadership across a federated architecture community.

Scope and Mandate

The Chief Enterprise Architect has enterprise-level accountability for enterprise architecture principles, target states, and roadmaps; architecture governance, decision frameworks, and compliance; alignment between business strategy, operating model, and technology; and architectural coherence across ERP, CRM, CPQ, digital, IoT, data, and integration platforms. The Chief Enterprise Architect reports to the CIO.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enterprise Architecture Strategy
  • Define and continuously evolve DeLaval's enterprise architecture strategy and target architecture.
  • Translate business strategy, growth ambitions, and industry trends into actionable architectural roadmaps.
  • Ensure architectural decisions support scalability, security, sustainability, and time-to-market.
  • Architecture Governance & Decision-Making
  • Own and operate DeLaval's enterprise architecture governance model.
  • Define architecture artefacts, principles, standards, and reference architectures.
  • Govern solution design and major initiatives.

Technology & Platform Leadership

  • Set enterprise direction for core business platforms, integration and API strategy, cloud and infrastructure architecture, and digital and IoT platforms.
  • Drive simplification, reuse, and reduction of technical debt.

Information & Data Architecture

  • Own the enterprise information and data architecture.
  • Define enterprise information models, data domains, and principles.
  • Establish readiness for analytics and AI.

Business & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Act as a strategic advisor to the CIO and senior leaders.
  • Bridge business and IT.

Architecture Community Leadership

  • Provide functional leadership to solution and domain architects.
  • Establish an enterprise architecture community of practice.

Success Measures

  • Reduced complexity, faster delivery, increased reuse, stronger business alignment, and improved data quality.

Strategic Impact

This role is central to DeLaval's evolution into a digitally enabled, data-driven enterprise.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role we believe that you have:

  • Several years of experience in enterprise or solution architecture.
  • Strong ability to translate business strategy into architecture roadmaps.
  • Experience with ERP, CRM, digital platforms, IoT, cloud, and data architecture.
  • Solid understanding of architecture frameworks and governance (e.g., TOGAF).
  • Skilled in driving simplification, standardization, and reducing technical debt.
  • Strong stakeholder skills and ability to lead through influence.
  • Excellent communicator who can bridge business and IT.
  • Proven experience in driving projects and leading transformation.
