About the research project
This project explores a novel transmitter architecture, Frequency Division Multiplexing Transmitter (FDMTX), aimed at improving energy efficiency and data capacity in future wireless systems. By splitting wideband signals into multiple narrowband branches and recombining them, the approach enables more efficient power amplification and flexible spectrum use. The research combines RF circuit design, signal processing, and system-level analysis, and includes both theoretical studies and experimental validation.
Who we are looking for
The following requirements are mandatory:
- To qualify as a PhD student, you must have a master's level degree corresponding to at least 240 higher education credits in Electrical Engineering, Communication Engineering, Engineering Physics, Computer Engineering or similar, with a strong background in electronic circuit design. Experience in the design of high-frequency circuits is meritorious.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
*for students with an education earned outside of Sweden, a 4-year Bachelor's degree is accepted.
The following experience will strengthen your application:
- Experience in microwave measurements
- Experience in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning methods for microwave circuit design
- Experience in digital signal processing
What you will do
- Take courses at an advanced level within the Graduate school of Microtechnology and Nanoscience
- Develop your own scientific concepts and communicate the results of your research verbally and in writing
- The position generally also includes teaching on Chalmers' undergraduate level or performing other duties corresponding to 20 percent of working hours
Contract terms
- The Doctoral student positions are fully funded from start.
- The position is a fixed-term appointment of four years, with the possibility to teach up to 20%, which extends the position up to five years.
- A starting salary of 34,550 SEK per month (valid from May 25, 2025).
- Doctoral studies require physical presence throughout the entire study period. A valid residence permit must be presented by the study start date; otherwise the admission may be withdrawn.
