PROCUREMENT MANAGER - MECHANICAL COMMODITIES

We are looking for an experienced Procurement / Category Manager to join our Global Procurement organization, part of Industrial Operations. The role is responsible for defining and driving the procurement strategy for mechanical commodities, primarily steel-based products and related bought services. You will manage long-term supplier relationships, framework agreements, and strategic sourcing initiatives across Europe, while collaborating closely with internal stakeholders. The role required you to work independently and on a senior, strategic level, but also in close collaboration with the global team and peers. You thrive in a visionary, coaching environment with open dialogue and collaboration. Targets matter, but success is achieved through joint problem-solving, analytical thinking, and engagement. You are motivated by contributing to global goals while maintaining a healthy work-life balance in a multicultural setting.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Context related to the role:

Management of appr. category spend: ~€20/25 million euro annually
Suppliers: Appr. 60/65, mainly European (Sweden, Germany, France), with some sub-suppliers in Asia
Part of a global team with multiple worldwide locations
Commodity: Mechanical commodities (steel-based components)
Location: Ljungby, or France (Troyes)
Travel: Mainly within Europe, approx. 15-20% (around one trip per month)

Responsabilities:
  • Define and execute commodity/category strategy aligned with global procurement budget and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain long-term, strategic supplier relationships, including framework agreements.
  • Lead sourcing activities and commercial negotiations, including RFI, RFQ, NDA, JDA, price lists, and joint development initiatives.
  • Manage supplier portfolio risks and contribute to global procurement targets and KPIs.
  • Balance cost, quality, delivery, and risk to ensure long-term supply continuity and optimized total cost of ownership.
  • Drive supplier development and innovation, contributing to future product roadmaps.
  • Work peer-to-peer with key stakeholders across Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, IT, central functions and Operations.


WHAT'S NEEDED FOR YOU TO THRIVE
  • Solid experience in direct material procurement, ideally steel and mechanical components
  • Proven background in strategic sourcing and supplier management
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement and purchasing within a global organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office
  • Proficiency in ERP usage
  • Fluent in English
  • Degree in Engineering or Business Administration

Considered as advantage:
  • Swedish and/or French is considered an advantage
  • Background in automotive or similar industrial environment
  • Experience with bought services
