Job description
About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Automotive Perception Data Annotator to perform dynamic data annotation on internal perception video streams from Volvo's automotive cabin cameras. You will track driver, passenger, and in-cabin object movements to train Volvo's internal perception AI. This role is critical for developing ADAS and autonomous driving safety systems, requiring meticulous attention to detail and a deep understanding of in-cabin dynamics.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Annotate dynamic data from internal cabin cameras, tracking driver, passenger, and object movements across sequential frames
  • Label hand positions on steering wheel, head pose, gaze direction, seat occupancy, and object interactions using keyframe-based labeling
  • Maintain persistent object IDs through vehicle-specific occlusions (A-pillars, dashboard, seat backs)
  • Process dynamic datasets from test vehicles (scaling from 1 to 10 production vehicles)
  • Deliver high-accuracy annotations for driver monitoring, occupant detection, and in-cabin behavior analysis
  • Work autonomously on safety-critical annotation tasks that directly feed Volvo's internal perception algorithms
Profile Requirement:

MANDATORY:
  • Senior-level experience annotating automotive internal camera data (driver/passenger monitoring)
  • Proven expertise in driver behavior annotation: gaze tracking, hand steering-wheel interaction, head pose
  • Strong understanding of in-cabin occlusion patterns (dashboard, pillars, seat geometry)
  • Proficiency in 2D/3D bounding boxes and keypoint annotation for hands, faces, body joints
  • Familiarity with automotive safety-critical accuracy standards for perception systems
  • Self-sufficient execution of automotive-grade annotation workflows

BONUS / PREFERRED:
  • Experience with occupant detection and seat classification annotation
  • Ability to annotate temporal driver actions: reaching, adjusting controls, fatigue indicators
  • Experience with Volvo or OEM internal perception datasets
  • Comfortable scaling annotation throughput for multi-vehicle internal perception training data
Technical Competencies:
  • Video data annotation tools and workflows
  • 2D/3D bounding box and keypoint labeling
  • Driver monitoring systems (DMS) annotation
  • Occlusion handling and persistent object tracking
  • Automotive safety-critical quality standards
  • Temporal action annotation
Personal Qualities:
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
  • Autonomous worker with self-sufficient workflow execution
  • Understanding of automotive safety-critical requirements
  • Ability to scale annotation throughput efficiently
  • Collaborative mindset with remote teams
We Offer:
  • Critical role in developing Volvo's internal perception AI for ADAS and autonomous driving
  • Direct impact on safety-critical automotive systems
  • Opportunity to work with Volvo's internal perception datasets
  • Career development in automotive AI and perception annotation
  • Competitive compensation for specialized annotation expertise
