What we are looking for

Uniper’s strategic nuclear power operation is located in Sydkraft Nuclear Power AB (SNP) in Malmö. We have a stake in all Swedish active nuclear power plants and in Swedish nuclear fuel and waste management Co (SKB). At SNP we assess safety, risks, investments and costs – so the nuclear plants operate safely, efficiently, and profitably.

We’re now looking for an Independent Nuclear Safety Engineer. You will have the self-drive and motivation to work independently as well as part of a wider team.

The purpose of the Independent Nuclear Safety Oversight is to make an additional layer in the defense-in depth by providing Sydkraft Nuclear Power AB’s CEO and top management with an independent perspective of nuclear safety and performance at Uniper’s nuclear fleet.

Regular assessments are made with the aim to challenge safety performance, identify areas for improvements and give a second opinion to the line oversight. Analysis and trending are continuously performed with emphasis on proactively identifying potential risk areas. In addition, a structured approach with deep-dives in areas of special concern is used.

This position is placed in Oskarshamn but traveling on a regular basis will occur.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Gathering of information concerning nuclear safety and performance

- Regular reporting and assessment of nuclear safety status and performance

- Follow up and assessment of significant events and incidents

- Systematic assessment of processes, performance and gaps to best practice

- Assessment activities to aid management by identifying problems, potential causes and insights.

- Assessment of organizational effectiveness including individual and organization behaviors

- Representation in relevant forums regarding nuclear safety

Uniper is part of Sweden's critical infrastructure. We carry out security clearance before employment, in accordance with the Security Protection Act. In addition to safety testing, health and drug tests are also performed.

Who we are seeking

We are looking for you who have a Master of Science degree. You have experience and a good understanding of Nuclear Technology and Nuclear Safety principles. You have knowledge concerning the Nuclear Environment including conventions, laws and regulations, management system and international best practice. In addition, you have an understanding and experience of working with Human Factors including human performance and nuclear safety culture. We work in an international environment so you need to be fluent in written and spoken Swedish and English.

To be successful in this role you need a strong analytical mindset. You have integrity, are driven to work proactively and have great communication skills. You are used to a high degree of self-management and taking own initiatives. You are able to plan and prioritize working assignments in order to achieve set goals.
