We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced project manager, who can help us accelerate international shipping's green transition.

The Global Maritime Forum is an international not-for-profit organization committed to shaping the future of global seaborne trade, to increase sustainable long-term economic development and human wellbeing. We are a leading platform for multi-stakeholder collaboration and action, founded on the idea that progress happens when people from all parts of a system – those who have the will and the influence to make positive change – work together on finding new solutions to critical challenges. To this end, we facilitate game-changing initiatives, including the Getting to Zero Coalition, the Poseidon Principles (the world's first sector specific, self-governing climate alignment agreement amongst financial institutions), the Sea Cargo Charter (industry giants committing to transparent reporting of shipping emissions), and the Neptune Declaration on Seafarer Wellbeing and Crew Change.

About the role
The Global Maritime Forum's work on First Movers is focused on encouraging company actions on Zero-Emission shipping today, through the promotion of both company-led innovation activities and by fostering public-private collaboration on Green Shipping Corridors. The group undertakes this work through projects designed to produce analysis and/or action.

These projects are pursued in both small, closed consortia working towards targeted, time-bound outcomes; and in more open groups, working to deliver broader outcomes in support of First Movers generally (e.g. open collaborative projects, toolkit and methodology development, stakeholder dialogues and events, networks and government engagement initiatives).

As our new project manager, your primary responsibility is to ensure that these projects deliver impact and results in line with our objectives and those of our stakeholders as we move towards zero-emission shipping.

You will be responsible for day-to-day project management (see below) for multiple First Mover projects simultaneously, with the support from the Senior Programme Lead and a Project Coordinator. Core responsibilities include:
  • Stakeholder engagement and management
  • Supporting the Senior Programme Lead and Project Director on cultivating company interest and making connections between companies in the pre-project phase
  • Serving as the primary interface with participating stakeholders during the project delivery phase; ensuring input from stakeholders and managing their concerns
  • Project initiation and planning
  • Supporting the Senior Programme Lead and stakeholders in identifying project opportunities, scoping and designing project vehicles
  • Serving as the lead in writing project plans and where relevant drafting funding applications; drafting and maintaining project documentation; setting outcomes and defining deliverables and milestones
  • Project delivery
  • Ensuring project deliverables are delivered on time and on budget
  • Ensuring overall quality and stakeholder acceptance of deliverables including analysis, reports, events, joint statements and agreements, continuation plans, etc.
  • Prepare written and oral material for communication of project results (presentations, talking points etc)
Throughout all three phases the Project Manager will leverage the Getting to Zero Coalition's membership, working groups and activities to maximize project impact.

The Project Manager reports to the Senior Programme Lead for project work within her portfolio, and to the Project Director for other projects. The Project Manager's line manager is the Project Director.
