HVDC is a product group in Hitachi ABB Power Grids. HVDC unit (High Voltage Direct Current), with headquarters in Ludvika – develops, manufactures and sells DC transmission systems on a global market. This Hitachi ABB Powergrids developed HVDC technology is used to transmit electricity over long distances and for power transmission via submarine cables. HVDC is also used to connect power systems

In the role of Global Product Manager you will be responsible for the long-term profitable growth and marketing of the HVDC Systems offering to targeted market segments, by developing and managing it through all of its life cycle phases, according to market needs and Product Group strategy and targets.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead market intelligence analysis. Understand and define current market segmentation and related product/system/service positioning.
  • Own the technical and market specification for the product/system/service and determine a product/system/service business plan that supports sustainable growth.
  • Act as interface between external market and internal functions (e.g. Sales, Operations, and Research & Development), forecasting volume trends on a regular basis to ensure Operation’s capability to fulfil customer orders.
  • Define new product/system/service plans, sets technical, price, cost and capital expenditure targets.
  • Prioritize new product/system/service development projects with responsibility for achievement of targets (product characteristics, time, costs, capital expenditure, pay-back) and coordinating cross-functional teams.
  • Initiate and drive product market communication strategy, including product launch planning and implementation.
  • Defines product customer value proposition per segment and channel and ensure clear communication to channels and users, to deliver clear product/system/service positioning within the portfolio with defined values per product/system/service line.
  • Responsible for product/system/service profitability and margin. Drive the annual business planning process and facilitate agreement between sales demand and supply. Monitors global sales target fulfilment and tender volumes and act as appropriate.
  • Ensure correct pricing is applied for all countries, products/systems/ services within relevant business area.
  • Continuously develop product management processes and tools, including interfaces to other key functions and develop sales and tendering tools to support the Sales organization. Initiate creation of external and internal product training modules and programs.
  • Initiate and drive cross functional and cross-organization product and solution innovation teams, monitor development of all standards and market trends and provide inputs to Research & Development (R&D) for patent screening process and intellectual property rights protection.

Your background

  • As a foundation, you hold a university degree in a technical field and are proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Background in Product Management or Marketing and experience in B2B industrial sales is advantageous.
  • It is considered essential for you to have prior experience within the electrical industry and good knowledge of electrical power systems.
  • Experience with HVDC systems is very advantageous.
  • As you will be working in a global environment, you are fluent in English, written and spoken alike, whereas knowledge of additional languages is meritorious.
