A quantitative geneticist in an international network Since its establishment in 1995, the Interbull Centre has held a unique position in the international dairy industry. Through a truly international collaboration, the Interbull Centre provides international genetic and genomic services for the improvement of cattle to a worldwide network, involving organisations and data from 37 countries on five continents. Genetic Data Analysts at the Interbull Centre work with some of the world’s most renowned animal geneticists represented in Interbull and ICAR Committees and Working Groups for the improvement and expansion of its services. The Interbull Centre is now seeking a quantitative geneticist to strengthen the delivery and development of genetic and genomic evaluations in beef and dairy. The right candidate will join a small, enthusiastic group of people with backgrounds in genetics and information technology. You will report to the Interbull Centre Director, work in line with the Interbull Centre quality management system, and have the opportunity to attend international conferences and technical meetings. Duties:  As a geneticist at the Interbull Centre, you will be part of the team that carries out international genetic and genomic evaluations of bovine populations. The focus is on performing and developing data analysis for service provision, interacting directly with our customers across the globe. Your responsibilities include: • Service Delivery: Computation of genetic evaluations – including data management, estimation of genetic parameters. In-house training to provide Interbull and Interbeef evaluations will be provided • Implementation of New Services: Contributing to applied research in conjunction with Interbull and ICAR committees and working groups, service documentation, and support for internal and external users.  Qualifications:   • PhD in animal/plant breeding, statistical/computational genetics/genomics or related fields • Demonstrated strong analytical skills and a minimum of four years’ experience with quantitative genetic analyses, preferably within genetic evaluation of cattle • Proficiency in the following skills: working in GNU/Linux, shell scripting, handling of large data sets, and programming skills (Python or Fortran (or, to a lesser degree, R)) • Good oral and written proficiency in English is required, as our working language is English • You must be service-minded and able to handle workload peaks and to take fast and well-motivated decisions.
