FEM Engineer to the Propulsion Development

SCANIA CV AB · Södertälje · Ansök senast 25 maj

Jobbet har utgått och går inte längre att ansöka.

The department of Propulstion Development at Scania Research & Development in Södertälje develops Scania’s future driveline components such as electrical machines, gearboxes, e-transmissions and rotating parts of axles. The group of Analysis & Calculation is responsible for most of the numerical simulations within the department.

The group is inter-disciplinary and divided into four distinct areas: Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), structural and fatigue studies, dynamical systems as well as Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) analyses. The group is now looking for a FEM engineer.

Your role

To succeed with your tasks, it is essential to achieve a deep understanding of the dynamical phenomena by using commercial FEM software packages as the main tools. Results from your work will be directly used in the development of new future products as well as improvement of existing ones.

Examples of assignments are analysis and improvement of the fatigue strength of gearbox manoeuvring components for dynamic loads ever increasing due to improved gear shift speeds; analysis of shearing in the adhesive polymer between copper winding and steel laminates of an electrical motor; simulation of material properties due to rate of carburization, quenching and tempering during case hardening of shaft and gear components; identification and mapping of dimensioning loads for each component system using modelled strain gages and correlative studies with test track-, and customer-vehicles. The complexity of the assignments requires that a large part of your work will consist in continuous method development in order to improve the capability of the numerical models and the scaling of their deployment.

In order to fulfil the needs and to be on the edge of the technical advances within the concern; benchmarking of new advanced commercial software, further education in specific areas and participation in international conferences are also required.

In order to enable a scalable deployment of the methods and insights held by you, experience in programming and modern version handling systems is favourable.

You will be part of a wide organization and will work in tight collaboration with other experienced calculation engineers as well as design and testing groups. International contacts and collaborations will also be part of the work.

Your profile

We are looking for a person with genuine interest in computational structural dynamics and heat transfer. You have a good sense of initiative but are at the same time a team player and analytical. We expect that you have a MSc degree in a relevant engineering field or physics and a few years’ experience in FEM calculations in commercial codes such as Abaqus or ANSA. A PhD in a related subject is highly desirable. To facilitate internal and external cooperation, we give large value to both social and technical skills. We expect you to be proficient in English and have at least a good understanding of Swedish.

Are you the new group member we are looking for? Send in your application!
