Electrical and mechanical safety engineer for battery systems

Scania is working on the development of sustainable products and electrification is an important part of the formula for success. A central, strategic part of the electrification process is the battery system, which provides energy to power the vehicle. The group you will be part of, UBCE, is the product owner of battery pack systems and has responsibility for safety, performance and legal requirements and for establishing high-performance, specialist teams to develop the world's best battery pack systems. There are currently several roles within the group and one of these is the safety engineer whose area is growing and who needs more engineering colleagues.

About the role

You will be a member of our electrical safety team working on battery development and electrified vehicles. Examples of your tasks include designing electric and mechanical safety concepts for battery system, evaluate high-voltage components within the system, work with safety for mechanical crash safety concepts, be a part of design of test rigs and test set-ups for tests in the field of electrical safety.

You will also design and test circuit breaking concepts, measure and understand electrical components and their limits, analyse results and write test specifications and reports. The role can also include tests at external institutes and understanding how Scania's requirements and the provisions of legislation affect the entire system. You will work close together with our safety and test engineers and create a strong team who aims to create the best battery pack system in the world.

Your profile

You have both practical and theoretical skills and a degree in electrical or mechanical engineering. You will have had a few years' experience of working in the field of electronics and ideally been involved with control units. You will also be familiar with product development processes for electronic or mechatronic systems.
  • You have previously been a part of development work and are familiar with test set-ups, measuring instruments and used the Matlab, Labview and CANalyzer tools.
  • You have good knowledge in booth Swedish and English.
  • You are curious and able to take the initiative. You can manage your own work independently and you also like working in a team and contributing to the group's deliverables.
  • You enjoy your work, want to develop as a person and are proud of the results you produce.
