We are offering an exciting opportunity for a talented and highly motivated individual to join us in the role as Director - Scientific Communications and Engagement Lead Early CVRM. The role is placed at AstraZeneca's dynamic R&D site in Gothenburg Sweden and reports to the Head of Business Planning and Operations Early CVRM. Early CVRM within AstraZeneca is accountable for the discovery and the development (up to phase 3 investment) of new drugs in three main strategic areas - cardiovascular/heart failure, metabolism (diabetes and NASH) and renal. What you'll do In this key role, you will work closely with Early CVRM senior management to craft, structure, and deliver communications and communications strategies that position our therapy area strategy, showcase our distinctive science and outstanding scientists. In collaboration with colleagues in R&D Communications, Global Corporate Affairs, Global Medical Affairs and Global Commercial you will work across departments to drive and provide communication support for internal and external engagements, monthly reporting, and various scientific events. Responsibilities include: * Work directly with the Senior Vice President Head of Early CVRM and Head of Business Planning and Operations with content and development of material for internal and external engagements and key presentations such as strategy and budget meetings * Define and implement the internal communications and engagement strategy for Early CVRM, working closely with key stakeholders across AstraZeneca * Liaise with the Early CVRM leadership team to develop sets of strategic communication for areas of relevance including Disease Areas and Projects * Responsible for inputs to the Head of R&D Communications for Biopharmaceuticals, e.g. Monthly reports, BioPharma town halls, presentations to the AZ Board * Responsible for input to CVRM Therapy Area Biopharmaceuticals Medical e.g. major conferences and expert meetings as well as internal events * Drive the development and communication of Science stories to showcase our distinctive science, outstanding scientists, and scientific publications internally as well as externally * Drive community building and best practice sharing in Early CVRM * Drive and facilitate development of relevant content for Early CVRM internal web site * Drive development of materials for communication of scorecard content during the year and secure engagement amongst staff * Partner with the Scientific CVRM lead to facilitate expert meetings as appropriate Essential for the role As the Director - Scientific Communications and Engagement Lead for Early CVRM, you combine your scientific background with your excellent ability to express science and complex data in a clear and aesthetic way for effective and compelling communication. You have: * PhD in a Scientific Discipline in Life science * Significant experience in science communication or journalism and proven ability to clearly articulate science and complex data fit for the audience * Scientific experience in the Early Cardiovascular Renal Metabolism field * Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English * Knowledge of the pharmaceutical drug discovery and development process * Strong influencing, networking, and collaboration skills * A proven track record of delivering business goals in a timely manner With your excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills you operate effectively across boundaries in a global matrix research environment to influence both internal and external stakeholders, including senior management.
