About the Role

Personal Care is a Business Unit in Essity with approximately 3 billion Euro sales, offering strong global and local brands in feminine, incontinence and baby care. We are now looking for a Vice President Communication for the Personal Care Business Unit (BU) to lead the internal and external communication for the BU. This includes ensuring communications that support the BU commercial ambitions, developing and implementing communication plans and aligning the work with Essity's overall communication framework. As a member of the BU Management Team, the role uses communications as a strategic enabler to support the business strategic agenda, drive business objectives, change, performance, and culture.

The scope is global, covering internal and external communications for the BU. At the same time, the VP represents the BU in corporate communication matters and ensures coordinated stakeholder management with the Group and other BUs. The position contributes to Essity's corporate content, channels, and brand positioning, focusing on BU priorities that strengthen Essity's reputation.

The role works closely with all stakeholders in the BU, as well as with the entire Global Communications function and other main stakeholders in the Group as necessary to manage internal communication efficiently, such as enabling organizational changes or understanding of commercial priorities. The scope includes leveraging external communication for the BU, building trust and managing issues relating to customers or commercial relationships, enabling PR activities that help build recognition on innovation, sustainability and for Essity as a whole. The role actively contributes to corporate communication activities and to the development of Essity's overall global communication function as part of the Communication Leadership Team.

The role reports to the President of the Personal Care BU, with a dotted line to the Chief Communication Officer for Essity.

What You Will Do
  • Serve as strategic communication partner to the BU President and leadership team, using communication to drive objectives, change, performance, and culture.
  • Lead the development and execution of the BU's internal communication plans to ensure engagement and effective communication infrastructure across the global BU.
  • Define objectives, priorities, and messaging for external communication based on BU commercial needs, guiding Group and Country execution and managing BU-specific initiatives.
  • Ensure all BU communication aligns with Essity's corporate communication strategy, policies, and guidelines.
  • Optimize the use of communication resources, capabilities, and assets (processes, tools, channels, messages).
  • Represent the BU in Group level internal and external communication activities and content development.
  • Support the Public Affairs agenda based on BU needs, ensuring clear priorities and alignment with Group.
  • Lead issues and crisis communication management for the BU, coordinating with Country and Group stakeholders.
  • Oversee communication for M&A and divestiture activities related to the BU.
  • Contribute to the development of Essity's communication function as part of the Communication Leadership Team (strategy, objectives, plans, policies, brand positioning, priorities).
  • Ensure effective communication alignment between the Personal Care BU and the Consumer Tissue BU, as well as other BUs.


Who You Are
  • University Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum 10 years of senior communication leadership experience in an international FMCG organization.
  • Track record leading and executing communication strategies across multiple regions within a complex international organization.
  • Ability to both strategize and execute communication deliverables.
  • Proven crisis management expertise (having successfully led at least two major crises, incident, or transformation communication situations across multiple markets)
  • Strong listener with the ability to gather insights and translate input into effective communication strategies.
  • Strong leader with the ability to create effective internal and external networks.
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
