Mission

We are seeking an experienced Tech Lead / Lead Data Engineer for a consulting assignment focused on building and leading a new data engineering team.

The mission is to design, develop, and establish scalable data products on a modern, cloud-based data platform, making data more accessible, reliable, and value-driven for the business.

This role emphasizes long-term sustainability, strong engineering practices, and solutions that can be efficiently operated and maintained over time.

Role & Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and coach a team of data engineers, fostering high performance and technical excellence

Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions, data architectures, and data products

Design and develop data solutions using Azure Databricks and modern cloud data platforms

Ensure high quality, usability, documentation, and reliability of delivered data products

Establish and promote best practices, technical standards, and reusable patterns

Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, IT, and operations to align solutions with business needs

Support handover, adoption, and long-term management of solutions by other teams

Contribute to building sustainable ways of working, including development processes and governance models

Required Qualifications

Proven experience leading data engineering teams and delivering solutions on Azure Databricks

Strong ability to translate business needs into technical designs and data architectures

Excellent communication skills with experience bridging business and IT

Demonstrated experience in coaching teams and establishing effective working methods

Additional / Preferred Qualifications

Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and data governance

Experience handing over solutions to operations or platform teams

Background in working within agile, cross-functional teams
