Om jobbet

The University of Gothenburg tackles society's challenges with diverse knowledge. 58 000 students and 6800 employees make the university a large and inspiring place to work and study. Strong research and attractive study programmes attract researchers and students from around the world. With new knowledge and new perspectives, the University contributes to a better future.

The Department of Social Work, with just over 130 employees, 16 of whom work in operational support, is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Gothenburg. We have approximately 1,800 students, most of whom are enrolled in the social work programme, which is the most sought-after programme at the university. The department also offers Swedish and international master's programmes and postgraduate education. We have extensive international contacts and collaborations through various networks and agreements with universities around the world. The department conducts research in social work within the framework of several profile areas.

The Department of Social Work is now looking for a student assistant to support an international student exchange on the course Psychosocial Perspectives on Health and Illness. Some of the students on the course will collaborate with around 15-20 students from Bulgaria and Germany on a project in international project groups. The collaboration will begin digitally and conclude in early June with campus-based teaching at our location in Gothenburg, known as a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP). The purpose of the exchange is to highlight international perspectives on health and illness in times of crisis.

Duties

As a student assistant, you will support teachers before and during an Erasmus exchange between universities. You will be involved in planning and preparing for the exchange, e.g. booking accommodation, planning student activities and study visits. A large part of the role involves being available to students and answering their questions. Between the dates of 1st and 5th June 2026, when students and teachers are in Gothenburg, you will play an important role in coordinating the visit. Among other things, you will handle bookings, be responsible for travel and transport logistics, and organise lunches. You will participate in study visits and other activities during the week. During this week, you will need to be available full-time.

Eligibility

To be eligible for employment as a student employee at the University of Gothenburg, you must, in accordance with the Agreement on Terms and Conditions for Fixed-Term Employment as a Student Employee:
  • Be enrolled in full-time studies at university level and have completed approved studies equivalent to at least 60 higher education credits (Chapter 6, Section 2 § of the Higher Education Ordinance).
  • Not have commenced doctoral studies.
  • The position requires very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.
  • Knowledge of Zoom, Microsoft Word and Excel.

Knowledge of Swedish is an advantage. Studies in the social work programme or a master's programme in social work and previous experience of international exchanges are also advantageous.

Great importance is attached to personal suitability. You are orderly and structured in your approach to work. We also see that you enjoy working with people, are outgoing and sociable, as the role involves many new encounters. As much of the work will be carried out independently, you need to be able to plan and take responsibility for your own work. You are solution-oriented, proactive and have good local knowledge of Gothenburg.

Employment

The position is a temporary 20% employment for 2 months during the spring, based at the Department of Social Work. The start date is by agreement. The work schedule will be planned in consultation between you and the employer.
