About the role

As a Senior Packaging Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in advancing packaging solutions for cutting-edge optoelectronic components, including semiconductor lasers with high-speed integrated modulators. You will lead efforts to design innovative packaging that maximizes speed, density, and integration with driving electronics. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will collaborate across multiple disciplines to develop technical solutions that set new industry standards and shape the strategic direction of Coherent's technology roadmap.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design packaging solutions for integrated optoelectronic components, such as semiconductor lasers with integrated high-speed modulators.
• Evaluate the thermal, mechanical, electrical, and optical characteristics of the design through modeling and experimental verification.
• Develop next-generation packaging solutions for increased speed, density, and co-packaging with electronics.
• Select the most suitable technology platform and define the technical solutions to meet new product requirements. Contribute to defining the technology roadmap
  

Qualifications and Experience

• Broad technical competence in fields like applied physics, material science, electrical engineering, micromechanics, RF and signal integrity, thermal-mechanical modeling, and packaging technologies for semiconductor and optoelectronic devices.
• Deep expertise in specific areas such as packaging, thermal-mechanical modeling, micromechanics, and material science.
• MSc with 5-15 years, or PhD with 3-10 years of relevant work experience in packaging, optoelectronics, semiconductor, or microwave industry.
• Fluency in English, both oral and written; proficiency in Swedish is desirable.
