Role

We are looking for a Senior Gameplay Programmer to join our newest game team working on an unannounced project. In this role, you will use Unreal Engine 5 to develop different gameplay systems such as inventory, quests, crafting, and other meta progression systems, which other developers will use during production and live service. You should be service-minded with good communication skills in order to translate designer needs into practical, usable tools.

You'll need to work independently and be self-sufficient, figuring things out on your own, but also collaborate well with others and work as part of a team.

This is a 12-month temporary contract, working onsite at our office in Stockholm.

Responsibilities

Design and develop game systems and mechanics

Work both independently and collaboratively to solve challenging problems

Proactively share information and updates with colleagues

Maintain game performance and stability

Support management and production with estimates and prioritization and leadership

Build practical tools for designers

Collaborate closely with product, design, and development teams to create seamless user experiences

Qualifications

5+ years of professional working experience in game development

Experience using either C++, C# or Lua or other programming languages within game development

Education in programming, or the experience to make up for that

Organized: you have extensive experience in working with complex processes to facilitate organization and improve project structures

Excellent communication in English (Swedish is not a requirement)

A team player: you are flexible and adaptive, have a positive attitude, and have the ability to collaborate, lead, and inspire

Great feel for gameplay & game mechanics

Burning passion for playing and making games

Bonus Qualifications

Experience using Unreal Engine 4 or 5

Experience working with C++ projects

Released your own games as a side project

Experience from other parts of games development, production and/or publishing

Experience working with backend environments

Application details

We have a policy of working 4 days in the office per week, with 1 day optional to work from home. The onboarding is being done fully in the office.
