The Role:
As a Senior Backend Engineer at Depict.ai , you will own and evolve the backend systems that power real time search, merchandising, Recommendations and AI workflows used daily by leading fashion brands.

You will work close to product, and customers, designing robust, scalable services that sit at the core of our platform. This is a hands on role with significant technical ownership, architectural influence, and real customer impact.

What You'll Do:

• Design, build, and operate high performance backend services using Python and FastAPI
• Own data intensive systems including search, ranking, catalog ingestion, and AI pipelines
• Build and maintain integrations with Shopify and other e-commerce platforms
• Design APIs and internal services that are reliable, observable, and easy to extend
• Work with ML engineers on RAG systems, vector search, and LLM powered workflows
• Improve system scalability, performance, and reliability as we grow globally
• Participate in the engineering on call rotation and help raise the bar for operational excellence

What We're Looking For:

• Strong experience building backend systems in Python, ideally with FastAPI
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and data modeling
• Experience with PostgreSQL and data pipelines consuming multiple external APIs
• Hands on experience running production systems on GCP, Kubernetes, and Terraform
• Practical experience working with or alongside AI systems such as vector search, LLM orchestration, or ML powered services
• Product minded engineer who enjoys translating real business problems into clean technical solutions
• Comfortable taking ownership, making architectural decisions, and mentoring others
