What you will be doing

The Security & Defence unit is responsible for strategy and coordination of SEB's security and defence engagement, in support of European defence readiness. We are now looking for an intern to join our team for the summer of 2026.

As a summer intern you will

• Conduct thematic research on defence industry trends, procurement cycles, and the evolving European security architecture to support internal strategy and external advisory.
• Analyse financial data and company fundamentals within the defence sector, supporting the development of financing solutions and client presentations.
• Monitor regulatory developments (EU, NATO, National) and export control frameworks to assess risks and opportunities for the bank and its clients.
• Collaborate across the bank to translate complex geopolitical and industrial developments into actionable financial insights.
• Get to know SEB as an employer as well as engage with other departments and interns in the bank
• Receive mentorship from senior executives and industry experts.


Your work tasks will be dynamic, balancing deep-dive research projects with active support for ongoing mandates and advisory work.

Who we are looking for

• You are in the final stages of completing a degree in economics, finance, engineering, data science or social sciences, either at the Master's level or in the last semester of your Bachelor's program
• You have a strong interest in geopolitics and financial markets
• Exceptional analytical and communication skills
• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail
• Fluency in English (written and spoken) is a prerequisite for an application
• Previous experience in advanced data modelling is advantageous
