📌 SAP ME Architect - Job Description

Position Title: SAP ME Architect

Location: Stockholm

Duration: 1 Year (with possible extension)

🔍 Role Summary

For our client, we are seeking an experienced SAP ME Architect responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing Manufacturing Execution System (MES) solutions using SAP Manufacturing Execution (SAP ME).

The architect will deliver robust shop-floor systems integrated seamlessly with SAP ERP, SAP MII, SAP PCo, and various enterprise and machine-level components. The role ensures the MES platform supports end-to-end manufacturing operations, enhances production visibility, and aligns with the organization's digital transformation roadmap.

🧩 Key Responsibilities

1. SAP ME Implementation & Architecture

Lead and architect one or more full lifecycle SAP ME implementation projects.

Design scalable MES solutions using SAP ME, SAP NW, and SAP Plant Connectivity (PCo).

Customize and extend SAP ME functionalities using the SAP ME SDK.

Configure SAP ME master data, workflows, PODs, routing, and shop-floor user interfaces.

2. Integration & Technical Delivery

Develop and maintain integrations between SAP ME and:

SAP ECC / S/4HANA

SAP MII

CPI-DS, SDI, and other middleware tools

Machine-level connectors via SAP PCo

Ensure stable MES performance across multi-plant production environments.

3. Data Modeling & System Configuration

Work with core SAP ME data models including ODS and GODS.

Design and optimize database structures for SQL Server and Oracle environments.

Develop SQL queries, stored procedures, and perform database tuning.

4. Software Development & Technical Competency

Utilize J2EE, JSP, EJB, JavaScript for custom development, UI enhancements, and runtime services.

Deploy custom components, validate software packages, and manage SAP ME system landscapes.

5. Functional Activities

Conduct requirements analysis, fit-gap assessments, functional and technical design.

Support the full project lifecycle including testing, UAT, user training, go-live, and hyper-care.

6. Infrastructure Knowledge

Perform basic troubleshooting on shop-floor hardware including:

RF scanners

Barcode printers

Tablets and HMI devices

Monitor MES performance across Windows and Linux operating systems.

7. Agile / Scrum Execution

Actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, grooming, daily stand-ups, demos, and retrospectives.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IT, operations, engineering).

8. Communication & Documentation

Prepare technical design documents, architecture diagrams, and deployment manuals.

Communicate complex MES and integration concepts clearly to business and technical stakeholders.

Provide ongoing knowledge-sharing, technical leadership, and MES roadmap recommendations.

🎓 Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

Expert-level experience with SAP ME implementation and configuration.

Strong understanding of MES architectures and manufacturing processes.

Hands-on expertise with:

SAP ME SDK

SAP MII

SAP PCo

CPI-DS / SDI integrations

J2EE, JSP, EJB, JavaScript

Solid database knowledge in MS SQL Server and Oracle.

Soft Skills

Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.

Excellent solution design and problem-solving capabilities.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively with global teams.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

⭐ Preferred Skills

Experience with SAP Cloud Platform and connector technologies.

Machine connectivity and industrial automation experience.

Understanding of PLCs, SCADA, and OT/IT integration.

12-15+ years of experience in enterprise manufacturing systems.

Proven background in delivering SAP ME or MES solutions in large-scale industrial environments.

Ability to lead architecture, development, and integration across complex manufacturing landscapes.
