R&D Manager to Hellberg Safety

The position

Hellberg Safety are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking R&D Manager to lead the engineering team and play a key role in shaping the future of the product portfolio. Key Responsibilities

As the R&D Manager, you will lead a team of skilled engineers focused on both new and existing products, with a strong emphasis on plastics and electronics. This role will report directly to the Managing Director at Hellberg Safety and will be part of the management team. The R&D manager will lead a team of direct reports. The position will be based at Hellberg Safety in Stenkullen outside Gothenburg.

The position holder is expected to:

• Develop and maintain the product development roadmap in close collaboration with the markets and Product Management.
• Drive innovation and efficiency across all R&D activities, ensuring continuous improvement in processes and output.
• Take ownership of quality-related issues where R&D support is required, proactively identifying and implementing sustainable solutions.
• Prepare and manage cost and investment budgets for all development initiatives.
• Define and execute a strategic development plan for the engineering team, supporting long-term competence growth and team effectiveness.
• Actively contribute to the Hellberg Safety management team, serving as the voice of R&D in strategic discussions and decision-making.

Your profile

To be successful in this role, we believe you:

• Have a strong background in R&D engineering (minimum 5+ years of experience) with solid understanding of production engineering, materials, and quality systems.
• Have an analytical and structured mindset with a strong focus on delivering business value.
• Are skilled in strategic planning, project management and process development.
• Have proven leadership experience with a clear vision and strong decision-making capabilities.
• Have strong stakeholder management skills.
• Are fluent in English and Swedish.
