Om jobbet

Blekinge Institute of Technology is a place of curiosity and ingenuity with a campus in the middle of the Blekinge archipelago. Here we offer education from undergraduate to doctoral level and conduct world-class applied research. We change and make a difference. Do you want to become one of us?

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is one of six departments at the Faculty of Engineering Sciences. The department is a vital part of BTH and has been so ever since its start in 1989. Our work is focused on activities that build competence for a modern digital product development that support companies' transitions towards a sustainable society. In research and education, we work in a broad spectrum. From basic mechanical engineering via modelling and simulation towards innovative product-service system development.

Work description

This postdoctoral position is part of the research portfolio within Mechanical Engineering and Product Development, where multiple externally funded research projects are conducted in parallel in close collaboration with industry, public authorities, and international partners. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the development of the research, including engaging in ongoing and future research projects in which research questions, empirical studies, and method development are shaped by real-world challenges across different application domains.

The research focuses is exploring value creation in Product-Service Systems (PSS) and System-of-Systems (SoS) through simulation, operational data, and Digital Twin methodologies. The research is conducted in close collaboration with industry at both national and international levels, with applications in the transport and manufacturing sectors.

Work tasks mainly consist of research, data collection and analysis, writing scientific articles and grant applications and presenting the research at scientific conferences and in society. Teaching and supervision of students may occur but may amount to a maximum of 20% of the total working hours.

The research environment

The research will be conducted within the subject of mechanical engineering and the Product Development Research Lab. PDRL is an internationally recognised research environment focusing on engineering product development, innovation capability, and advanced engineering design, with strong links to industry and societal challenges. The research environment is characterised by interdisciplinary collaboration, applied research projects, and access to advanced development, simulation, and visualisation infrastructures.
