What to expect:
Seeking a Perceived Quality Engineer to ensure the visual and tactile quality of interior and exterior components, support material validation, and maintain appearance requirements from concept to pre-production.
Appearance Verification & Assessment
- Plan and execute appearance approval assessments for interior and exterior components.
- Perform visual and measured evaluations in accordance with established standards and methods.
- Document and report assessment results following defined processes.
Root-Cause Analysis & Quality Improvement
- Conduct detailed root-cause analysis when components fail to meet appearance specifications.
- Propose corrective actions and improvement measures to suppliers and engineering teams.
- Ensure timely implementation of corrective actions in compliance with appearance requirements.
Development Phase Support
- Participate in concept and engineering phases, contributing to target setting and requirement analysis.
- Evaluate appearance attributes such as gloss, color, grain/texture, defects, and tactile qualities.
- Support the definition of surface materials to ensure the intended quality perception is achieved.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Design, Engineering, and suppliers to provide expert input on material combinations, system matching, and feasibility.
- Contribute to the overall perceived quality strategy by ensuring consistent execution across components and systems.
What you bring along:
- Strong understanding of appearance specifications for automotive components.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to perform thorough root-cause analysis and define improvement actions.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to evaluate perceived quality from a user perspective.
- Strong communication and documentation skills in English.
- Master's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- Team-oriented mindset with a proactive, can-do attitude.
- Experience with appearance validation in complete vehicles.
- Ability to manage timelines and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
- Knowledge of polymer materials, injection-molding techniques, and textiles.
- Familiarity with colorimetry, gloss theory, and corresponding measurement methods.
