We are looking for a Packaging Engineer who will be responsible for all stages of packaging Print & Converting (P&C) development, including planning, risk management, and providing accurate and timely technical information and insights to teams, stakeholders, markets, and functions. The goal is to ensure optimal decision-making and successful delivery of packaging solutions.Main Areas of Responsibility:
You will work with printing and converting activities for oral products, covering all stages of the P&C processes.
Key Deliverables:
- Support the "360-degree" assessment of graphics and finish technology as part of new packaging development, with a particular focus on printed materials and decoration.
- Contribute to packaging equipment specifications to ensure full integration of graphical and finish elements within machine operating ranges and material specifications.
- Ensure that key technical assets are available at critical deadlines to enable execution readiness and a smooth transition to the deployment phase, including Good to Design files, Master Printing Report, input to the design master file, and Master Color Standard.
- Collaborate with the packaging deployment team at relevant stages of the development process to ensure execution, specification readiness, and availability of quality standards.
- Participate in vendor selection and act as an expert resource regarding vendor capabilities, and attend key print trials at vendors when needed.
- Play a central cross-functional role in execution readiness, simplification, and speeding time-to-market.
- Act as a key expert on regulatory and compliance requirements globally as they relate to printed components.
- Support root cause analysis in case of quality issues when required.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced studies in engineering, printing, converting, material science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6-8 years of experience, ideally with expertise in flexo, offset, and digital printing, including color management, pre-press processes, and on-press troubleshooting.
- Proven experience in printing on self-adhesive materials with a strong focus on high-quality output and specification compliance.
- Broad knowledge of packaging materials, inks, print decoration, and finishing technologies.
- Extensive knowledge of color management techniques, including ICC profiling, color calibration, and consistency across different substrates and printing conditions.
- Strong expertise in pre-press processes, including file preparation, proofing, plate making, and troubleshooting pre-press issues.
- Knowledge of runability of printed materials on production lines, substrate/ink performance, and recyclability.
- IT and software skills: Adobe Suite, Product Lifecycle Management tools, MS Office, CAD.
