DeLaval is looking for a Mechanical Manager to create and maintain world class milking products.Modern milking machines are marvels of technology. Complex, but yet simple, they function day in and day out in one of most challenging environments when it comes to technology - the dairy farm. They have to be cow-friendly, they have to be user-friendly, and they will help farmers around the world to milk their cows in a more efficient and environmental friendly way.
We are now looking for a manager to lead our second mechanical team within the Robotic Milking product group. The mechanical team has an end-to-end responsibility for the current assortment - from ideation and pre-studies, via design and testing, all the way to production and maintenance.
The mechanical team works robot arms, milk equipment, stalling and structures. Hands on experience is important, and trips to farms, both in Sweden and abroad, will give you a good understanding of the routines and the environment in the barn. This is a job where you clearly can see how your products and the designs will help the end customer to better and more efficient milk production.

Role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in a dedicated team that invents, develops, and refines systems and products within the field of robotic milking. You will also work with design in an exciting and enjoyable product area that is strategically important for DeLaval. You will regularly travel to test farms, factories, suppliers, and development partners both in Sweden and internationally.
Key responsibilities:
- Development responsibility and technical ownership of Robotic Milking products and systems, thereby ensuring safety and quality of products as well as user and animal friendliness
- Ensure fulfilment of legal requirements as Machine Directive and ISO standards.
- Managing a team of mechanical engineers.
- Improving the ways of working in Mechanical Engineering in collaboration with others Product Groups within Product Development.
- Ensure timely delivery of change management and development tasks to assigned products and to the relevant product development projects / programs
- Ensure systems-thinking & integration of the developed components, thereby closely cooperating and aligning with other product groups, Systems Engineering and Projects

- Act according to budget directives
- Plan and manage resources, develop staff according to competence requirements
- Maintain and build product-application knowledge and on-farm understanding, facilitate and spread knowledge
- Foster effective formation and development of teams to maintain and excel in creating innovative solutions
- Maintain a safe working environment
Qualifications
To be successful in this role we believe that you have:
- At least 5 years in product development roles with in-depth experience in mechanical engineering
- Experience in managing teams
- Strong experience in project work and managing product development milestones
- High level of familiarity with the agri/dairy industry
- Team player and collaborative personality with excellent communication skills and proficient in English language
- Master or equivalent degree in mechanical engineering
