Job description
Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineering Lead to take global component responsibility for EGR pipes within our Air and Gas team. This role requires leading mechanical design engineering with a holistic approach, ensuring quality and readiness while developing team competence and organizational networking.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead mechanical design engineering for EGR pipes with moderate technical complexity
  • Take global component responsibility within the Air and Gas team
  • Maintain holistic view on deliverables from interfaces to secure quality and readiness before release
  • Spread knowledge and develop competence within the technical team
  • Develop and manage networking across the organization
  • Provide inputs to project prerequisites based on component history and lessons learned
  • Oversee design, material selection, and welding specifications for EGR systems
  • Define and evaluate simulation results for component performance
  • Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles
Profile Requirement

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience with EGR pipes or similar exhaust/air system components
  • Expertise in mechanical design engineering with moderate technical complexity
  • Experience from Volvo Group (mandatory requirement)
  • Proficiency in CREO and KOLA and other Volvo systems
  • Strong background in design, material selection, and welding specifications
  • Experience with definition and evaluation of simulation results
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Leadership experience in technical teams or component responsibility roles
  • Global component ownership experience in automotive or heavy vehicle industry

Technical Competencies:
  • Mechanical design of air/gas system components
  • Material selection for high-temperature applications
  • Welding specifications and standards
  • Simulation analysis and result interpretation
  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • CREO 3D modeling and KOLA data management
  • Quality assurance and release processes

  • Ability to lead technical expertise area and mentor team members
