About this opportunity:

Ericsson is a global leader powering networks worldwide. We are exploring innovative ways to improve customer interactions over collaboration and conferencing platforms. This opportunity focuses on developing AI-based, programmatic agents that continuously extract and provide relevant information during and after customer interactions to enhance coordination and documentation.

We are looking for 1-2 students to conduct this master's thesis - applications from pairs are welcome!

What you will do:
  • Investigate and compare methods for real-time information extraction and continuous updating from evolving media sources.
  • Research techniques including machine learning, large language models (LLMs), and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
  • Assess scoring and testing methods to measure correctness and completeness of extracted information.
  • Explore Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and Zoom APIs to access conference media (chat, voice, video) and metadata (participants, invitations, etc.).
  • Design approaches to make video streams usable as input for automated processing.
  • Evaluate privacy and GDPR implications for implementations handling conference media and transcripts.
  • Survey commercial products that combine these capabilities today.
  • Implement a prototype that ingests text chat transcripts (with attached media), voice conference transcripts, and shared-screen video, and evaluate the correctness and completeness of extracted information.

The skills you bring:
  • Currently pursuing a master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in AI, machine learning, and real-time data processing.
  • Experience with multimedia data handling (text, audio, video) and integrating APIs.
  • Familiarity with LLM (large language models) and retrieval techniques is a plus.
  • Understanding of evaluation metrics for information extraction and testing methodologies.
  • Awareness of privacy, data protection, and GDPR considerations
