Local Policy Advocate (Volunteer Opportunity)

Agile Gothenburg is looking for local policy advocates in a number of municipalities in Sweden to assist in a project that is dedicated to safeguarding and advancing the rights of immigrants across Sweden and the EU.

You will be the on-the-ground representative, responsible for directly shaping decisions within the municipal political structure, ensuring the voices of immigrant residents are addressed, regardless of their cultural or religious backgrounds.

✅ What You'll Do

Connect with local immigrant residents, gathering direct input on municipal issues (housing, education, employment) to ensure that our policy proposals are based on local realities.

Work closely with our central legal team to develop a policy platform rooted in rights advocacy, ensuring all proposed local policies are aligned with Swedish and EU anti-discrimination law.

Act as the strategic voice for the project, presenting our mission and policy goals in all local political forums.

🎯 What You Bring

You ideally, but not necessarily, reside in any of the following municipalities: Hylte, Gnosjö, Emmaboda, Högsby, Hultsfred, Markaryd, Älmhult, Uppvidinge, Alvesta, Övertorneå, Haparanda, Bjuv, Åstorp, Perstorp, Burlöv, Flen, Oxelösund, Salem, Eda, Årjäng, Fagersta, and Strömstad.

Commitment to human rights, immigrant rights, and social justice.

Ready to be the loudest voice in the room to confidently defend our mission in all local political forums.

A background in politics, law, social work, public administration, policy, or local advocacy is a strong advantage.

Strong understanding of the challenges by immigrant communities in Sweden.

Good Swedish and English skills. Proficiency in languages common among immigrant communities in Sweden (e.g., Arabic, Bosnian, Persian, Somali) is a significant merit.
