The mission

Agteria is a full-stack biotech company on a mission to reduce 1% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions. We are redefining what it means to discover and develop compounds using AI to make agriculture sustainable. We fail fast, learn quick, and value work ethic, integrity, and intelligence above all else in the people we hire.

We are a Stockholm-based startup currently developing compounds that reduce emissions in cattle, with ambitions to tackle broader agricultural greenhouse gas emissions, and are backed by some of the best investors within deep tech & sustainability.

We are now looking for someone to lead what comes next.

The role

We're looking for a Head of Discovery to drive the identification of novel and known compounds to reduce GHG emissions from Agriculture, starting with the biggest emitters in livestock. You'll be the person deciding what we explore, structuring how we explore it, and moving fast to find what works.

This is a hands-on, high-autonomy role. You'll work closely with our CEO and AI lead, and collaborate with our research team - but you'll own the discovery agenda. You'll also help shape an internal AI-powered discovery platform, contributing to its development from a scientific and strategic perspective.

What you'll do:

• Lead compound discovery through internal AI tools
• Structure and manage the discovery workflow end-to-end
• Decide which compounds and approaches to prioritise and test
• Bring creativity and scientific intuition to identify promising candidates
• Collaborate on the continued development of our internal AI discovery tool
• Work with the Head of Science to ensure promising compounds move into validation
• Help build the foundation for Agteria's long-term R&D engine

Who you are

You've worked in AI-augmented R&D, ideally in drug discovery or a related field. You understand how to use computational tools and data to accelerate the search for effective compounds - and you're energised by the possibility of applying that experience to climate and agriculture.

You likely have:

• 5-10 years of experience in discovery, R&D, or a related scientific function
• Experience working with AI/ML tools in a research or discovery context
• A track record of moving fast and making decisions with incomplete information, preferably in a startup environment
• The ability to structure ambiguous problems and drive toward outcomes
• A deep curiosity and willingness to learn new domains (agriculture, animal science)

Nice to have but not required:

• Background in agriculture, animal nutrition, or feed additives
• PhD or advanced degree (but we care more about what you've done than your credentials)
