About the role
As the General Counsel at Alleima, you will lead our Legal function and work closely with senior management, the Group Executive Management Team, and the Board of Directors, to address legal issues affecting all aspects of our business. Your strategic legal advice and leadership will support our global operations in ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
The role reports directly to the President and CEO. The role is based in Sandviken or Stockholm, Sweden, and requires some travel.
The Legal function manages Legal Support, Compliance and Intellectual Property and currently consists of 18 professionals based in five countries.
-As part of the Group Executive Management Team, contribute with your expertise and ensure that legal aspects and implications are considered when strategic business decisions are made
-Act as secretary to the Board of Directors (including its committees and the shareholders' nomination committee), ensure that applicable regulations and corporate governance are complied with, and that decisions are properly documented
-Lead and manage the Legal function, providing legal advice across Alleima's global operations in [30]+ countries, including relating to contracts negotiation, mergers and acquisitions and dispute management
-Manage Alleima's compliance programs and whistle-blowing system
-Oversee intellectual property management, protecting the company's intangible assets
-Stay updated on legal developments and lead the implementation of relevant regulations
About you
You are a senior legal executive with a minimum of 15 years of experience, including substantial time in a senior in-house counsel role at a listed company, with a proven leadership record. You have a very good understanding of Swedish corporate governance and board work in a listed environment. Your deep expertise in corporate law, contract law, compliance, and managing risk, combined with your ability to advise senior leadership on complex legal and regulatory matters, makes you a trusted advisor. You have experience from the industrial sector and of working in an international corporate environment. Your strategic vision, operational understanding, and ability to lead the Legal function in alignment with the company's commercial ambitions and risk management are essential. You possess high integrity, strong influencing and interpersonal skills, as well as a strategic mindset. Your excellent communication skills and business acumen make you an ideal candidate for this role. Proficiency in English and Swedish is required.
