Om jobbet
Hedvig is rewriting the rules of insurance, proving that it's possible to disrupt an entire industry while keeping people's best interests at heart. We're on a mission to make insurance genuinely great - and that starts with building strong, empowered engineering teams. As part of our engineering leadership, you'll play a key role in shaping both our technical direction and how we work as a team. What about the role?
You will lead a team of talented engineers, shaping both how we build products and how we grow as a team. This means combining strategic leadership with active hands-on technical work, which is a natural part of operating in a small and fast-moving engineering organization.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management and growth of your engineering team. You'll guide engineers through structured development plans, foster a culture of feedback and growth and create a psychologically safe, high-performing environment where your team can thrive. You'll also contribute directly to the codebase when it strengthens product delivery, sets engineering standards, or unblocks your team.
Our tech stack includes:
- Back-end services in Kotlin with Spring Boot
- Web with Next.js and Vercel
- Native mobile apps in Swift and Kotlin
- Federated graph with GraphQL
- Micro-service architecture
- Hosting on AWS
We evolve our stack with pragmatism, choosing the right tools to solve real problems.
What about you?
You're not just a strong engineer, you're a leader who inspires trust, clarity, and momentum. You care deeply about building healthy teams, scaling good engineering practices, and contributing to both technical and organizational strategy. You genuinely enjoy coding, stay close to modern engineering practices, and see hands-on work as an important part of effective leadership.
You're curious about how emerging technologies can improve how teams build, operate, and deliver value. You may have experience using AI in projects or organizations, or you're eager to learn and experiment with it to drive real product and business impact.
To succeed in this role, you:
- Have at least 4-5 years of professional experience as a software engineer, with a proven ability to coach and mentor others
- Have recent, practical engineering experience and feel comfortable contributing to production code when needed
- Are comfortable balancing strategic leadership with hands-on involvement when needed
- Can communicate effectively and provide constructive feedback
- Are familiar with agile methodologies and the software development lifecycle
- Have a strong technical foundation with solid computer science fundamentals
- Align with Hedvig's values and technical vision
What about us?
At Hedvig, we challenge assumptions, push boundaries, and believe great ideas can come from anywhere. We foster a culture of trust, ownership, and continuous learning, where engineers can grow in their roles and make a real impact.
We embrace mistakes, learn from them, and move forward - fostering a culture of curiosity, accountability, and growth.
