Job descriptionPosition Summary:
We are seeking a System Design Engineer to work closely with the Engineering Manager, product responsible, and other stakeholders in defining and implementing diagnostic concepts for automotive embedded systems. You will analyze system architecture to identify failure modes and diagnostic needs, define monitoring strategies, and create detailed system and software diagnostic requirements according to ASPICE. This role combines deep technical expertise in embedded systems with hands-on testing and verification activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze system architecture to identify failure modes and diagnostic needs
- Define diagnostic concepts, monitoring strategies, and mitigation mechanisms
- Create detailed system and software diagnostic requirements (ASPICE SYS/SWE)
- Structure and maintain DTCs and configure UDS services
- Ensure compliance with ISO14229, SAE J2012, SAE J1979
- Design, implement, and execute diagnostic test cases
- Define datapoints for backend analytics and predictive maintenance
- Maintain diagnostic databases for manufacturing and aftermarket teams
- Monitor and support execution of the organizational test strategy
- Perform hands-on testing and fault injection on vehicles and rigs
- Conduct system verification to ensure diagnostic performance
Required Qualifications:
- Deep understanding of embedded systems
- Experience in embedded software and hardware design
- Knowledge of automotive protocols: CAN, LIN, Ethernet, UDS, XCP
- Experience with HIL testing and verification
- Ability to read and analyze code
- Hands-on vehicle and rig testing experience
- Tools proficiency: Python, Excel, Wireshark, DLT Viewer
- Linux/WSL knowledge
- Swedish B driving license (mandatory)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with AUTOSAR and POSIX environments
- Knowledge of aftermarket onboard diagnostics usage
- Understanding of emission-related monitor design and OBD
- Experience in system architecture & project management
- Embedded systems architecture and design
- Automotive diagnostic protocols (UDS, OBD)
- DTC management and UDS service configuration
- ASPICE SYS/SWE requirements engineering
- HIL testing and fault injection
- Vehicle and rig testing methodologies
- Python scripting and data analysis
- Wireshark and DLT Viewer for diagnostics
- Critical role in defining diagnostic strategies for advanced automotive systems
