The Opportunity

Do you want to work with market-leading development and manufacturing of composite products for high-voltage applications at Hitachi Energy's competence center for high-performance polymer fiber composites in Piteå?

As a Design engineer, you will play a key role in developing new products and manufacturing processes in a rapidly growing market. Your responsibilities include creating design solutions and preparing production documentation such as 3D models and drawings - both for entirely new products and variants of existing ones. Project management and collaboration with customers, suppliers, and internal production teams are natural parts of the role.

Our core expertise lies in the mechanical electrical and physical properties, as well as manufacturing processes, of high-performance polymer composites materials. Our customers are located worldwide, both within and outside of Hitachi. The technology department is responsible for product development, order-based design, production verification, product maintenance, and technical sales support. It also manages strategic collaborations with external partners such as universities, research institutes, expert consultants, and suppliers.

How you'll make an impact

Design and develop new or existing products

Engage in dialogue with customers and suppliers

Create and review 3D models and drawings for production and purchased components

Maintain drawings, BOM lists, and review preparations to ensure they are up to date

Support and participate in the development, testing, and verification of prototypes

Actively contribute to product and process development project teams.

Hold local design responsibility for a defined product segment

Your Background

Bachelors' or master's degree in mechanical engineering or similar field

Experience with 3D modeling and drafting in CREO or similar tools

Genuine interest and curiosity in technology

Ability and interest in both practical and theoretical work

Analytical, detail-oriented, structured, and responsible

Willingness and ability to learn new skills and knowledge

Team player with strong collaboration skills

Strong communication skills in both Swedish and English
