Role Overview

The Commissioning Engineer is responsible for testing, starting up, and handing over power quality systems such as SVCs, STATCOMs, and Synchronous Condensers. The role includes work on primary equipment, secondary protection systems, control systems, and power electronics on project sites.

Main Responsibilities

System Commissioning

Commission SVC (Q/U/L), STATCOM (IGBT/BIGT/IGCT), and SC systems.

Perform functional testing of the MACH3 control system.

Support and carry out FAT and SAT activities.

Primary Equipment Testing

Test CTs, VTs, breakers, disconnect/earth switches, surge arresters, and transformers.

Conduct LV tests, filter tuning, and equipment verification.

Secondary & Protection Systems

Test protection relays (PCM600/HE, SEL, GE Micom, Siemens DIGSI).

Verify GPS sync, communication networks, and digital sensors (DOCT, VMU/EVT, CMU).

Power Electronics & Cooling

Support commissioning of thyristor, IGBT, BIGT, and IGCT valves.

Test and verify cooling systems (Swede Water, Adwatec).

Documentation & Safety

Follow all safety procedures and maintain required certifications.

Prepare commissioning reports and update documentation.

Work closely with engineering teams and customer representatives.

Requirements

Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

Experience with HV equipment or power electronics is an advantage.

Understanding of protection relays and secondary systems.

Willingness to travel internationally and work on project sites.

Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
