Are you committed to preventing financial crime and making a meaningful impact? At Danske Bank, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Chief Specialist Compliance Officer to join our Financial Crime Intelligence & Thematic Reviews team. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in identifying and mitigating financial crime risks while working with a diverse team of experts.

As Chief Specialist Compliance Officer, you will lead complex investigations, collaborate with public and private partners, and support strategic initiatives designed to detect and prevent financial crime. You will contribute to the development of innovative tools and processes, provide guidance to colleagues, and play a critical role in advancing financial crime intelligence at Danske Bank.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead investigations: Take ownership of and guide complex financial crime investigations, ensuring they are conducted in line with established best practices, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards. This includes managing high-priority cases, identifying and addressing emerging risks, and producing detailed investigation reports as well as dissemination of collected intelligence.
  • Collaborate with partners: Engage actively with the Banks representatives on public-private partnerships and relevant stakeholders across the Nordics, to foster collaboration, share intelligence, and enhance investigation capabilities. This includes contributing to industry-wide initiatives, participating in information-sharing forums, and developing strong relationships with external partners.
  • Drive strategic projects: Lead and manage key compliance initiatives such as sanctions circumvention reviews, horizon scanning of emerging financial crime risks, and intelligence-driven projects. Ensure these projects are executed effectively, with measurable outcomes that enhance our ability to detect, prevent, and mitigate financial crime.
  • Support and mentor: Play an active role in onboarding and integrating new colleagues into the team. Provide structured coaching, guidance, and feedback to help team members strengthen their investigative skills and technical expertise. Foster a culture of collaboration, learning, and professional development.
  • Data and analytics: Work closely with analytics and data science teams to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies in financial crime activities. Contribute to the development of templates, dashboards, and analytical tools that support investigations and decision-making. Leverage data-driven insights to continuously enhance investigation processes.
  • Governance and communication: Represent the team in governance forums, ensuring that investigation outcomes and key insights are communicated effectively to senior stakeholders. Contribute to the development of governance frameworks and ensure timely reporting to relevant committees and regulators.
  • Continuous improvement: Lead efforts to evaluate and enhance existing processes, tools, and reporting mechanisms. Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements to ensure that our financial crime intelligence capabilities remain innovative and effective. Implement feedback loops and best practices to drive efficiency and build resilience against emerging risks.
This position can be based in Copenhagen, Denmark, Helsinki, Finland, Stockholm Sweden, Oslo, Norway, Vilnius, Lithuania or Warsaw, Poland. Danske Bank supports a high degree of workplace flexibility (our team is currently using a hybrid working model, where we work at least 3 days a week in the office.)

About you:
  • Demonstrated experience: Multiple years of experience in financial crime compliance, intelligence, or investigations, within the banking or financial services sector.
  • Technical expertise: Strong knowledge of financial crime regulations, typologies, sanctions frameworks, and investigation methodologies, with direct experience managing complex cases.
  • Project leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage large-scale strategic projects, delivering actionable results.
  • Analytical skills: Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, with the ability to interpret large datasets and extract meaningful insights for investigations.
  • Communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating technical findings into clear recommendations for stakeholders at all levels.
  • English proficiency: The candidate must possess a high level of proficiency in English, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate and collaborate within an international environment. Strong skills in professional business English are essential, including the ability to draft clear, concise, and grammatically accurate documentation, reports, and correspondence.
  • Stakeholder management: Experience collaborating with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities and law enforcement agencies.
  • Innovation-driven mindset: A proactive approach to developing and implementing new tools, processes, and solutions to address emerging financial crime threats.
  • Education: A relevant academic background (e.g., law, finance, criminology, or similar), with professional certifications such as CAMS, ICA, or similar being an advantage.
We offer:
If the position is located in Lithuania, monthly salary range would be from 4000 EUR to 6000 EUR gross (based on your competencies relevant for the job).

Your job function (position) in the job contract will be Officer - Compliance - Chief. From 1 April 2026 it will be renamed to Compliance under our new job architecture with no impact on the role or responsibilities.
